Description
You can find the tiny downy blue violet (Viola sororia) growing all over at this time of year, usually in a moist, shady area. They have a number of other common names including the common blue violet, the wood violet, and the lesbian violet or flower. The state flower of four states (Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Wisconsin), I actually found this one at Fort Atkinson in northeastern Nebraska, on a bluff above the Missouri river. Both the leaves and the flowers are edible.

Back for a POD in the Best of Minimalism group. I really like this one a lot-- and appreciate the sacrifice of getting down low. It isn't something I can do anymore and expect to get back up. :)

I carry a walking stick for exactly that reason, Sarah! Thanks for the look, the comments, the selection. I appreciate it.

Lovely and sweet!

Thank you. Down on my belly for this one - the grow right down in the grass.
