Description
A dragonfly clings to a limb waiting for prey. Dragonflies feed on small flying insects and it this case is hanging near a ditch where mosquitoes breed awaiting its next meal. Besides its unique appearance this double winged insect, which in the south is sometimes referred to as a "Mosquito Hawk" helps rid the environment of less desirable and sometimes disease carrying flying and biting insects.

Great close-up of a Dragonfly, Barry! I love the golden brown and amber colors and the softly lit emerald background that complements it so well! This is very gorgeous! Love it! Fave! L/F/FB!

Your macro work is impeccable. The details of the dragonfly are so beautifully clear and the effect is that of being backlit. Love this. LF
