This place, that little town, is called Drass, The "Gateway to Ladakh". The area is called Kargil, of Jammu and Kashmir, The Himalayas, India.
They claim it to be the second coldest place on earth.
The place is wild and harsh, with a wilderness and barren landscape like no other place I have ever seen.
That people can live in a place like this with only about 2 months summer time is hard to believe, but the settlements and farmland confirms the truth.
The hillsides are packed with pink beutiful flowers, like a carpet vanishing into the mountains.
