Beautiful work, Greg! I purchased this for my niece and her new baby who live far from me, so I haven't seen the actual piece - but she says she loves it! I wanted something meaningful and lasting for the child - looked at all sorts of things that showed Ps. 139, but when I saw your work I knew that was it, and I'd be happy with nothing else! To me, the man holding the child could be the father - or, the way you've drawn him and better yet - Jesus. Thank you so much for this excellent, touching piece, Greg!!

The prints are beautiful! However, super disappointed in the framing...it’s so cheap looking and such a disservice to the print. Could have bought an inexpensive frame at Michaels that would have looked better. Spent extra on the frame and now have to go buy something nicer.

I saw this photo in the museum of American History in Washington DC and was so excited to find it online! My son is a huge Billie Holiday fan and he is going to be getting this as a gift. It is beautifully framed and was shipped in exceptional packaging to prevent damage. I will be ordering other prints in the future!

Artist's Description

Once upon a time, the Bedfordshire town, Dunstable, had not one but two railway stations. The largest and busiest of the two was Dunstable North, from which double track lead out of Dunstable to Leighton Buzzard via Stanbridgeford. The smaller station seen here had originally been named Dunstable Church Street, but was renamed Dunstable Town in 1927. This station had just a single track to Luton and beyond. The railway was in existence for well over a hundred years. This was the station closest to where I lived, but it was closed and quickly demolished when I was just a few years old. I can vaguely remember various details of the station and adjoining goods yard. The only photographs which I have seen of the station are black and white so it felt very important for me to try to bring it back to life in colour. As I painted this scene, I realised that not just the station, but everything in the picture had been demolished or burnt down in the last fifty years. The last part to disappear...

About Martin Howard

I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs. This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
