Artist's Description
Air Union Farman P.60 Goliath F-HMFU Ile de France. This aircraft crashed on 16 October 1925 at Wadhurst, East Sussex. Two passengers were injured and three were killed. The fuselage is exhibited at the Musee de l'Air et de l'Espace, Paris.
Originally designed as a heavy bomber it was too late to see service in World War 1.
Farman recognised it's potential for civilian use and converted his aircraft to carry passengers and freight. It was one of the worlds first commercial passenger carrying aircraft and as such was an iconic invention.
