How the Snow got its Color
Once upon a time when the earth was new, all things had color. The sky was blue, the grass was green and all the beautiful flowers were glowing with colors in the sunlight. Only one thing was still blank and colorless; the snow. He wandered from flower to flower to ask as nicely as he could if he could have some of their color.
First he went to the bluebell.
- Dear, beautiful bluebell, could you give me a bit of your blue?
The bluebell shuddered and turned her flowers away from the cold snow.
- No, I want it for myself!
Then the snow went to buttercup.
- Dear shiny buttercup, could you give me some of your golden-yellow color?
The buttercup disliked the cold snow and closed her flowers.
- No, it is mine and only mine. Go away!
Now the snow was so sad and sorry that he had to sit down. Then he saw a another beautiful little flower. It was a snowdrop.
