Postmarked in Providence at 12:30pm on September 18, 1910, this postcard depicts the Edgewood Yacht Club building that survived major hurricanes in 1938 and 1954, before burning to its pilings in early 2011. The dock remains in place today, and the club continues to be active.

The composite images of old photographs, antique photo postcards, and modern day photographs you see here are the result of a project that started several years ago simply for my own enjoyment. Beginning with just a few pictures from my home town in Rhode Island, I set out envisioning what the buildings, streets, and other scenes of a century ago would look like if they were dropped into a modern day setting. Soon I discovered more and more old postcards, and the number of photos grew into dozens. Before long I was shooting images in cities and towns throughout the state.
