Description
This portrait of Albert Einstein is entirely made of glass. The drawing is made by sifting glass powder from varying heights, then manipulating the glass dust using a modified x-acto knife. The process is known as fused glass sgraffito drawing. The finished square portrait is then tack fused in the kiln. Black, white, and clear sheet glass is hand cut and fused to create the large circular disc for the fused glass tile. Individual strips of glass are heated with a torch and pulled into stringers to create the detailing on the background to the left of the portrait of Einstein. All of the glass components are then tack fused together for texture.

Thank you, Caitlyn. Glass powder drawing is challenging, and therefore quite fun!

Thank you so much Basant. The portrait is made by sifting glass powder down from varying heights and manipulating it with a craft knife. Powder density determines value.
