Black and White image created from one of Nadines Paintings. One reason Nadines paintings look good, is the tonal range they contain. She uses an orange filter, to look at the painting as she is creating it, to see the range of tonal values that would be in a gray scale. Most would paint using about 4-5 shades of color where she uses a more than double that, giving a broader range of tonal values.
This View of Yosemite Valley contains images of El Capitan, Bridalveil waterfall, with Cathedral Rocks next to it. Glacier Point stands above them, with Half Dome in the distance. In the foreground we have the Merced River, and the broad valley of Yosemite. All are included in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, located in Mariposa county, California, in the western United States. The Ponderosa Trees in front of El Capitan are some of the tallest growing in the USA, their height is only exceeded by the Sequoia Trees in Sequoia National Park.
