This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

Artist's Description
Acrylic on canvas, 16x20. Illustrated account of the life work and travels of Elizabeth Hayes (Mother Mary Ignatius), founder of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. She left Glasgow, Scotland to become a traveling missionary, teaching the poor in Jamaica, Europe, the American South, California and Belle Prairie, MN. Inspired by her life, her mission work continues around the world today. 1823-1894.
About Jen Norton
Painfully shy as a child, Jen was unable to communicate with anyone outside her family except through drawing. Visual language was her first language and she never lost her passion for its ability to communicate for her. There was never a day she "decided" to become an artist. For Jen, there was just no other way to be. Jen Norton is a graduate of Santa Clara University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Art, with a Minor in Business. Jen worked as a Graphic Designer in the Silicon Valley where developing marketing communications materials helped push her from purely personal expression to full conversation.
