I absolutely LOVE Monica's artwork and it's extra special to be able to carry her artwork around with me wherever I go. Quality of the bag is good, too!

I’m very pleased with my Back2bike bag from artist John Kurtyka. The bag is high quality so it holds my library books quite securely. And since I’m a bike rider, I love the picture, so unique, people notice it and comment so I tell them about this website and the unique works of this artist.

Gorgeous photo on the bag. Loved that I could adjust the photo size to suit my preference. Wanted to use for going to the health food store as I need to replace the 15 year old canvas, washable bags I have now. These will not last as long as those canvas bags. I could even deal with slight fading when I needed to wash them. These do not feel washable. Cheap mesh "fabric" on the interior will tear. Disappointed in the fabric on the inside and outside.

I was hoping for a heavyweight cotton canvas bag to use for grocery shopping; this will not be it. I wanted a bag that would be washable. This has a cheap mesh fabric on the interior that will tear in short order. The exterior is some sort of nylon or other synthetic fabric that I do not feel comfortable washing. I guess I didn't realize what kind of fabric it was made of. It is beautiful but not useful for my needs.

I wanted some pretty tote canvas tote bags to replace the durable canvas bags I use for trips to the health food store. While certainly beautiful, this bag will not be useful for that purpose. The interior is made of that lightweight, cheap mesh fabric that tears with the slightest bit of stress on it. I was hoping for heavy canvas, but this is an odd fabric that will not hold up for what I wanted to use it for.

Artist's Description

By the time of the American Civil War, Fort Pickens had not been occupied since the Mexican-American War. Despite its dilapidated condition, Lieutenant Adam J. Slemmer, in charge of United States forces at Fort Barrancas, determined that Pickens was more defensible than any of the other posts in the area. His decision to abandon Barrancas was hastened when, around midnight of January 8, 1861, his guards repelled a group of local men intending to take the fort. Some historians suggest that these were the first shots fired by United States forces in the Civil War.Shortly after this incident, on January 10, 1861, the day Florida declared its secession from the Union, Slemmer destroyed over 20,000 pounds of gunpowder at Fort McRee, spiked the guns at Barrancas, and evacuated with 51 soldiers and 30 sailors to Fort Pickens. At Fort Pickens, on January 15, 1861 and January 18, 1861, Slemmer refused demands for surrender from Florida militia Colonel William Henry Chase, who had designed and c...
