I have been following the research into the Shroud of Turin for the last 40 years. I was so happy that Ray Downing made a portrait based upon the Shroud. I was very struck by the beauty and sensitivity of the portrait. I have it hanging in my living room right where I can see it most often every day. I bought the portrait on wood and am very happy with it. Thank you, Mr. Downing, for bringing this to the attention of so many people.

About Andrew Hitchen
Andrew Hitchen is a freelance illustrator. His distinctive pen and ink drawings have earned him numerous commissions for magazines, newspapers, events, and indie record labels over the years. Recently, Andrew's style of artwork has evolved into a fascinating blend of traditional and modern techniques, drawing inspiration from Pop Art, Graphic Novels, Surrealism, Popular Culture and Children's Illustration. Andrew is also the writer and illustrator of several children's novellas including 'The Haunted Snow Globe', 'Caught On Camera', 'Library of Dreams' and 'Weather Boy'. This is part of a series of illustrations, Deepka, involving a small black cat and his various creations with sheets of old newspaper. I did have a vague idea of a narrative involving mice rising up against their cat oppressors, but I didn't include the story. I concentrated on the visuals.
