Excised nasal polyp being placed in a specimen jar. The polyp will be tested to see if it is cancerous, or was turning cancerous. Polyps are a form of benign growth that may need to be removed if they grow too large. In this case, the polyp had grown large enough to block the patient's nasal passage, and endoscopic surgery was carried out to remove it via the patient's nostrils.
