Description
The Bowdoin Mill is a great example of a historic mill saved from neglect and destruction and put to good use. Constructed in 1868, the mill was originally known as the Topsham Paper Mill, later the Pejepscot Paper Company gave it its name. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. In 1998, the mill was placed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's list of critically endangered sites. The mill was saved and restored, with anchor tenant Sea Dog Brewing Company Topsham moving in downstairs. It now houses doctors' offices, real estate offices, the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and the American Cancer Society.
