You know children are pretty lucky today. With the use of computers they can create models of animals, then print them in 3D on a printer, sometimes in colored plastic and create physical objects to be used as toys. That's amazing...
But they weren't special.
In my day we had it rougher, the time it took to find just the right animal, and cast a spell on them, enchanting them, it wasn't easy. You would have to shrink them down so they were in the proper scale, and there was a lot of tweaking involved. Finding a box big enough for them, where they would he happy, was also a tough task. Keeping them in the box was also hard, its not like you can glue them or chain them in place, that would be mean.
And if you wanted something like a mountain, you would have to just make that from paper and shove into the background, people would totally notice a mountain missing. Tree's were easy, but you have to get them in season, so it was always important to stock pile them from different seasons, with a spell cast to keep them from changing or dying.
You really had to watch out for accidents, those little animals, they can't quite defend themselves like they could when they were big.
