On this autumn day the late afternoon sun painted the dunes with long shadows. The angle of the sun is low at this time of year and without much warmth. Even the picture seems to say winter is coming.

There are what I believe to be fox tracks on the dunes - probably a male regularly patrolling his territory. Island Beach State Park in Seaside Heights, NJ, supports a population of Red Fox that have learned to walk the beaches in search of food.

I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....
