Meaning behind the art: This collage was created in my class to demonstrate how to mount a collage that was done on watercolor paper to a wood panel. And the black threads applied by drilling holes through the wood with a hand drill. Not realizing the choices I make sometimes when creating a big sheet of paper like the brown grocery bag and using many tools like stencils and stamps. I got the fern stamps from a Good Will find. When assembling the collage and arranging the papers the image of fern was picked to be part of the foreground of the collage. My thoughts were flashed by to the movie Avatar. I think I might have watch that again. The thing is the piece of artwork has really no relationship to the movie but that it has directed me back to watch it has a heighten awareness for me.
