My neurodivergence always prevented me from meeting the expectations of silent meditation. When I found Arjuna, my life long journey to find a type of spirituality the fit me rather than forcing me to fit into a specific dogma ended. Most people say, "I'm trying to be a Buddha." I know I am an Arjuna and this duvee cover represents my graduation into a better way of living. If I could have my way, the back side would also be red, but it's everything and more than I could've asked for. Thank you.
Fiery Bromeliad II Each painting in this series measures 10"x10". Vibrant collage and acrylic painting on canvas, featuring a bright bromeliad set atop a turquoise background. The texture is created by embedding hand torn scraps of paper into the surface of the painting, and the piece is finished with fine line foiled accents. Each piece is topcoated with UV protection. The edges are finished with paint and paper, and so the piece does not require framing.
My most recent work draws more inspiration from color and texture than distinct subject matters, and my objective remains to imbue my canvasses with a sense of emotion. Through the intricate texture and vibrant color in my pieces, I aim to create a visceral response in the viewer; my hope is that the viewer may connect with them emotionally rather than through conscious, deliberate effort. In this way, viewers create their own interpretations through this initial connection, and the narrative of the piece becomes secondary. I was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan.
