I love the turtle and was able to hang it in our son’s condo in Kauai. I was not thrilled with the quality of the frame but it was too complicated to have it redone. Carol’s work is fantastic.

The print and matte look nice, but I wasn't totally happy with the frame. The corners don't mate well, and there were scuff marks on it. It looks fine as long as one doesn't look too close!

I’m not one to complain and I love the picture but there are a couple issues. Even though it was double boxed and bubble wrapped it arrived with a scratch on the top of the frame. Considering the packaging that tells me it was sent to me with the scratch already there. Kinda sad. Also the mat isn’t flat down on the sides of the image, it floats off of the print. I’ve framed tons of art personally and professionally and those are not difficult issues to keep from happening. I still love the art and it’s hanging on my wall. Just a little disappointing that it was sent to me with those issues.

Artist's Description
Staid colors of blue combine beautifully with a bit of outrageous reddish orange in this photomontage, which is a mixture of handpainted papers, ink washes, and more. I like it because it's sort of subtle, sort of isn't. And I also think it would look good printed on metal so that the colors would be super-saturated.
About Carol Leigh

I'm a photographer, writer, educator based in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in photomontage work, combining photos I've taken of rust, walls, peeling paint, birds, postage stamps, trees, etc. into images that are completely new, different, and often weird. I also create physical collages, then find myself photographing parts of them to include in my photomontages. It's crazy, but it's fun! My career has encompassed writing guidebooks (primarily about where to photograph in California), newsletters (guides for photographers about where to photograph in the United States), leading photo workshops, and conducting online classes. Carol - Hi. I would love to tell you that we're thrilled after receiving a large print of Fiery Red and Indigo One. As per my comment below, we placed (and paid for) an order on July 17th. We did not received it for several weeks and we could not get any shipping updates from Fine Art America ("FAA"). So, I finally contacted UPS directly. UPS responded on August 1st that the shipment was lost and that I should contact FAA for a replacement. I wrote (and called) FAA that same day and was told that a replacement would be sent immediately. They said that they would send me confirmation of shipment of the replacement and forward a request to their supervisor for expedited shipment. No confirmation was sent. I have subsequently written and called FAA repeatedly. They have not responded to any of my emails. Each time I call, they tell me that a replacement has not yet been sent (now three weeks after the item was reported lost by UPS) and that they will "open a ticket' and have supervisor call e. However, nothing ever happens. As of two days ago the customer service representative again confirmed that no replacement had been sent -- and they refuse to let me speak to a supervisor. Notably, FAA has no phone number for their corporate headquarters. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET SOMEONE'S ATTENTION AT FINE ART AMERICA??? Moreover, we have spend quite a lot of money with them over the past two-to-three months. Is this how FAA treats good customers??? I'd appreciate anything you can do to help. Thanks a lot! Bennett

Carol - Thanks so much for your input. to preserve the square shape, I think we'll go with a 24" x 24" art print, complemented by a large frame with 3-inch molding. It will be the first thing you see as you enter the room. Thanks for your creativity. Your work is really wonderful. Bennett

Hello again, Bennett Gross. The original image was created 12" x 12" and at 300dpi. When you click on the image, you'll see how big Fine Art America can print it -- 40" x 40". The only thing I would beware of, should you decide to order it, is to NOT order it as a print on wood. The process and the substrate will fade my original colors and will deteriorate the boldness of the print. A lot of people like the look, but for this image, in my opinion, the print-on-wood process will ruin it. Whatever you decide, I thank you for taking a look at my work. -- Carol Leigh

Carol - We’ve just discovered your work and think that this is just a wonderful study of shape, subtlety and color. Along one or more of your crow images we are going to buy it for our bedroom. We want to pay proper respect to your creativity and intent. FAA offers different sizes and shapes. Can you tell us the dimensions in your original print? Thanks a lot!

Thank you to the person in Lincoln, California who said he was “very happy” with his purchase. He also posted a photo of the picture showing how it looks hanging in his home, flanking a lovely piece of furniture. I was pleased to see how well my art fit in with the rest of his collection. Thanks for taking the time to do that.
