Love the painting and the rich colorful blues, reds, greens, & yellows! A nice addition to our cowboy/southwest decor vibe.

Beautifully expressed rendition of the Shrine of the Bab. The frame and matting showcase the print. We have it prominently on our living room wall with other sacred pictures.

I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.

Artist's Description

The Phoenix, Arizona streetcar line spanned 1887 to 1948, having been completely electrified by 1893. So this vintage image by an unknown photographer, featuring horse drawn trams, dates from around 1890.

In John Wayne's last movie, 1976's "The Shootist," he temporarily abandons his steed and travels by horse drawn streetcar. The film is set in 1901, the twilight years of the Old West.

While at the U of A, I studied with the master black and white photo essayist W. Eugene Smith (1918-1978) the last year of his life. I am the last person cited in Jim Hughes' definitive biography of Gene, as I wrote about attending his final...
