I was told 38 yrs ago it was circa 1650 Sounds like a tv show I’ve never seen but honestly paid $200 for the frame at a junk/antique shop and painting was in it but damaged and I had it repaired . Total price $200. Murillo had several people copy his work in the 1700s and 1800s but I’ve had this one carbon dated 1654 three times! He would have been 37 yrs old and no one yet was copying or he not that recognized.An art expert in N.Y. is telling me it’s not original but radio isotopes don’t lie. Scratching my head now of what to do . Wayne

This is such good protection for my phone! Yes, I have dropped it a couple times and my phone was fine! What a blessing! I don't use my phone a lot in public, but I've had many people ask where I got it - even several people in Fiji! I wish I had a picture of two young boys looking at it! They were in awe!

I loved the name of the art, as well as the colors. The heavy case is very protective and easy to find in my purse...and reminds me to remain hopeful always!

This is my second of these. My first for my iPhone6 had great color. My second, for my iPhoneXR, the colors are a bit washed out. Not as happy with this one.

Lovely case I have it on my phone now 😀

Artist's Description

1945's "Leave Her To Heaven" is the only 1940's noir shot in color. Fox shot it all over the US in Arizona, California, Maine and Wyoming. Sedona, Arizona is noted for its reddish/orange rock formations. Cinematographer Leon Shamroy (1901-1974) stressed orange in "Heaven." The pale skinned beauty of Gene Tierney's face is accentuated by her lipstick, makeup and Shamroy's amber light. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBpIgetXN-g&feature=search The scene where she deliberately allows her handicapped stepson to drown from exhaustion reveals the deadly extent of her jealousy and cruelty. Water is an important element in the motion picture. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwCmZfjaOdQ&NR=1 Leave here to heaven is a line from the first act of William Shakespeare's "Hamlet." {NOTE: A Lux Radio Theater presentation of "Heaven" with Gene Tierney & Cornel Wilde, was broadcast on 9/17/1947 and another with Joan Fontaine & John Dehner on 8/10/1953.}

About David Lee Guss

I first became obsessed with photography and motion pictures while growing up in post WW2 Manila in the Philippine Islands in the late 1940's/early 1950's. Film noirs were a particular influence. But my first love remains the theater. I acted in numerous amateur productions from 1958 to 1978. In 1979 I earned a MA in drama from the University of Arizona; earlier getting a BA in English from the University of Minnesota, where I co-founded the first film society on campus and ran it for four years. While at the U of A, I studied with the master black and white photo essayist W. Eugene Smith (1918-1978) the last year of his life. I am the last person cited in Jim Hughes' definitive biography of Gene, as I wrote about attending his final...
