"Fire Wave" Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada, USA FineArtAmerica Features: + Nature Photography + All Red Rock Country + Patterns Winter sunset at the Fire Wave. The Fire Wave is a feature located within Valley of Fire State Park in southern Nevada. This landmark is so-named based on the fact that its red and white sandstone lines *wave* through its geology. This particular area of the park is known widely for its more pastel coloration. Gratefully my group was alone this evening, as the previous evening was loaded with visitors, probably in the number of 20+, making shooting very difficult. Valley of Fire is Nevada's first state park, and was dedicated in 1935. The park comprises some 42,000 acres. The sandstone's origins date back to the dinosaur era, and was originally a vast landscape of moving sand dunes. File info: 1301-4-8857 [3:2]
