Description
First image taken by NASA's InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) lander on Mars. It was taken by the Instrument Context Camera (ICC) on 26th November, the day InSight successfully touched down on Mars. The transparent protective dust cover is still on the camera's lens. The InSight lander is designed to study the interior of Mars. It will investigate the processes that formed and shaped Mars and its findings will improve our understanding of the evolution of the inner solar system's rocky planets.
