This painting of a black and white foal eating grass in a meadow is from the 'Horse' collection of equine art by Carol Cavalaris.
I live in the middle of a forest in the high country of Colorado. It is the wild beauty of my surroundings that inspires my mixed medium paintings of wildlife and nature. I grew up in Southern California and have been creating since childhood, always drawing, painting or making something. I have enjoyed many creative adventures, including sculpting, stained glass art, being a display artist, an interior designer, a graphic artist, a copywriter, a songwriter, a novelist, and a creative director. I grew up on a ranch with horses and foals. One of my favorite memories is watching the foals try to eat grass for the first time. Poor things are born with long legs and short necks. Great job with depicting this. I also love how well you did the foal's coat.
Carol Cavalaris replied:
Thanks so much, Jani. How wonderful it must have been to grow up on a ranch, with horses. Just love what you shared about foals.
