When summer begins to lean towards autumn Phoenicians become a bit stir crazy. Having made it almost through 'hell season' we begin craving cooler temperatures. I arrived at that point in August. Knowing full well summer would last another 8 weeks at least I planned my escape and headed to Flagstaff, Arizona where daytime highs were still warm but far more tolerable than life in the frying pan which is summer in Phoenix.
It was only a brief escape but I accomplished a 'mental reset'. Thank you, Flagstaff. Life is good again, nature is wonderful, and craft beer is tasty.
One morning I grabbed my camera and took a walk through a neighborhood adjoining the downtown area. I love architecture and old homes. Strolling through the area was like turning back the hands of time.
This particular bungalow stood out from the rest. The dappled sunlight that fell on the home created such beautiful patterns. The oak craftsman-style door positively glowed.
The scene presented an artistic challenge that I was only too happy to accept.
