I braved the wind this morning to shoot Longs Peak as seen by the Boulder Flatirons. Between the light pollution and haze of the night and morning, it proved to be a bit more challenging than I first thought. However, I persevered and came away with a few decent shots. This one focused on Longs Peak and Mount Meeker used all the reach I own at 200mm, and still needed a slight crop. I would have loved to shoot this as a points of light shot, but that was not to be. To shoot a points of light shot there's a handy formula which is not based on units, but seems to work none the less, and before anyone comments this only applies to a shot without a tracker. To calculate shutter speed in seconds the rule is to divide the focal length of the shot by 500. So, in my case, the 200mm focal length translates to a maximum shutter speed of about 2.5 seconds which was way too short for me to let in enough light.
