About Brenda Alcorn
I have been painting for approximately ten years. I recently retired from teaching high school English after thirty years at the same high school I attended. My art began as a diversion to lesson plans, grading papers, and other school related issues. I began with a workshop with Maxine Masterfield for experimental watercolor. I then took classes from Heather Fortner in gyotaku (fish printing) and other plant printing on an etching press. I am mostly self-taught through books of various watercolorists, collage artists, printers and my latest project is focused on colored pencil. I love photography and have been fortunate to have been selected into the Selby Gardens photographic exhibition the past five years. Mostly, my photographs...
