This piece was created when I read about the atrocities against women in the Congo. It is comprised of water color, pastel and acrylic. The symbolism reflects the physical abuse, the pain, anguish and bloodshed that has plagued the country for decades in certain regions of the Congo. The flag is the native flag for Kinshasa, the fabric and hairstyle are also traditional Congolese fashion. 10% of all profit from this piece will be donated to the organization Friends of the Congo.
