Description
Fort Point Lighthouse in Maine. Fort Point, at the tip of Cape Jellison, forms the West Side of upper Penobscot Bay, below the entrance to the Penobscot River. The spot was the site of Fort Pownall, a 1759 British fortification to hinder the French military. The current brick tower and keepers house were built in 1857, replacing the original structures built in 1836.
