Many years ago, my uncle Thomas (Tom) Phillip Hufford asked me to come up with a word the opposite of predator. Amitor is that word. Ami: Fr. friend, Amigo: Sp. friend, Amity: Eng. harmony, Ami: Formosa, Taiwan. Giraffe: non predatory animal unless young attacked. Butterflies: live, love, laugh, hope. Survive, thrive and inspire others. Pen Sherwood offered to do this Amtor artwork for free sharing the copyright with me for my Amitor concept. Amitor Tom would be so proud. Diana Hays Kisselburg

Artist's Description

Fort Rock, Oregon. In this conceptual horizontal composition, the immense crater rests on the distant horizon, suspended between a deep blue cloud-studded sky and a yellow and pale green landscape of sage, softly out of focus and framed by an old, deeply weathered wooden fence post in the foreground, the wood splitting and barbed wire rusting. The post, combined with the scene in the background, bespeaks of the dry, desert atmosphere of this part of Oregon. Fort Rock is an ancient volcanic caldera, located in Fort Rock State Park a little south of the lava fields that flowed from the Newberry Crater in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument, a bit south of Bend, Oregon. See also my several other shots of Fort Rock, and other scenic photos of volcanic Oregon.
