Round Beach Towel Reviews (29)

Average Rating (5 Stars):

The beach towel is really just for laying on inasmuch as it is too big and heavy to put around your body, which is just fine. The artwork in it is beautiful. I can't wait to use it.

Wow - I didn't realise it was going to be that big! It's a gift for a young member of the family - I think he'll be thrilled as he's a tractor fanatic at 6 years old. A practical gift too. The towel has a smoother upper side so it'll be more comfortable to sit on at the beach. It seems to have a thick absorbent power so no usual skinny beach towel.

very nice, love the colour not keen on the white tastle border but i like it, i'm going to use it as blanket for my hamock,

Artist's Description

It is often challenging to understand what the cloud shapes are saying, even if as a meteorologist, you are supposed to fully understand the physics. The supercell was approaching from the northwest although I had not yet ascertained that it was indeed a supercell. The laminar flow identifying the shelf cloud revealed the heavy rain just to the northeast. As the conceptual models illustrate, the heavy rain comes down in the forward flank downdraft and the air it pulls with it, spreads out in a circular fashion at the ground. This wedge of cooler air lifts the warm and moist environmental air thus forming the shelf. The rain and hail can be seen above and behind the shelf cloud. I was fairly certain that the downdraft was separated from the updraft region of the thunderstorm thus making this a supercell. The flanking line of the supercell could be seen further to the west.

About Phil Chadwick

Trained at Queens University as a nuclear physicist, Phil the Forecaster has been a professional meteorologist since 1976. Painting has however been his passion forever. For ten years, he studied under the late Mario Airomi, a famous Italian artist. Phil paints what he knows best: weather, nature, canoes and his family. There are not enough hours in the day to record the inspiration that abounds. Phil paints mainly en plein air striving for impressionistic realism. Something intangible and sometimes magical enters the art when one is actually out in the elements surrounded by inspiration. Bold colours and shapes can be found in the natural world if you only look. Phils art hangs in many private and corporate collections around the...
