Wonderful in its striking detail and color tones. I read all of the comments and enjoyed reading the technical talent that goes with this piece

Nice, gritty piece of memorabilia! The grain is great -- Leica & Tri-X? L/F

Madeline Ellis replied:

Thanks Frank. I imagine I used Tri X. For sure it was my Leica M6. It was taken in 1997 so I can't be sure of the film. I did print this in the darkroom. It was taken on a International Center for Photography class trip to Coney. I appreciate the L/F as well.

Madeline Ellis replied:

I just re-read what you wrote. I don't know how I wasn't amazed that you guessed I used a Leica. I am totally flabbergasted that you were able to spot that.

Really nice Madeline. I like the patina of age on it.

Madeline Ellis replied:

Thanks so much Johny!

Elise, thanks for featuring this in Showcase of Subculture. I am very honored!

Kristin, your comment on this photo and congratulations are much appreciated.

The grain is wonderful in this moody shot. Olde tyme stuff. Great. Congrats on your win, Madeline. :)

Pamela, thank you so much for your kind words. It means a lot to have such support.

Congrats Madeline ...very well deserved win !!

Thanks Ann and Kathleen! The Freak show in Coney Island is fortunately in the past where it belongs. There is, however, nostalgia attach to the old amusement park where I spent many days joyfully partaking in all the magic it had to offer.

Congrats on your win!!

Congratulations on your first place win in the Yesterday Contest, Madeline. Super!

Congratulations! This is surely a winning photo.

Madeline Ellis replied:

It was a wonderful surprise to have won the Yesterday contest. Thanks for your supportive comment.

Perfect gift for my college niece!!! They love to have their towels for spring break! Highly recommend. I recently bought round beach towels at a major retailer. The quality from fineartamerica far surpasses it! The artwork on the towel is vibrant and attractive. Love it!

I wanted to transform a corner of a room into a peaceful retreat. This cloth adorned with Linda Woods "Hamsa Mandala-1" is the centerpiece. A masterpiece it is.

About Madeline Ellis

Madeline Ellis

At 12 yrs. old I was fascinated by this little box called a camera. If you pressed the button and brought the negatives to a drugstore, one week later photos would be returned in its' place. I didn't understand this magic. When I was old enough, I studied photography at Brooklyn College. I found that if I put my negatives in a thing called an enlarger a shadow would appear on photo paper. When I dropped that paper in some chemicals, a picture would emerge. Wow! I was hooked and so I studied at the International Center Of Photography. Now, I take a photo, plug my camera into my computer and the photo I just took pops up on my screen. Times have changed. I have had four one woman shows and one group show in Manhattan. It was an...
