Description
DAY 48. Lisa’s 100 DAY PAINTING CHALLENGE.
This surreal, original watercolour pencil painting of FREYA, the mythological Nordic Goddess of Springtime and Fertility, is inspired as a Real Time response to Michele Avanti’s contest, “Goddesses of Spring” which celebrates this criteria and also by my daily painting challenge effort. My interpretation of her symbolic design of fertility and Spring renewal of both floral and fruit bearing vegetation is seen in abstracted images of cherries, oranges and strawberries, in Spring bulbs of grape hyacinth, tulips, and in flowering trees of redbud and lilac swirling about her. Magical spotted fungi appear among her roots giving us a reminder of the magical underworld of mycelia that sources all Life.
