This is part of the only wild herd of horses in South Africa. No one knows exactly how they came to be here. One theory is that they are the descendants from the horses used during the Boer War. Another theory is that they are descendants of horses that swam to shore after the ship they were on wrecked and sank. They are thriving and healthy.

I had so much fun this day. It was magical. The horses were elusive, as usual, and I was ready to go, when out from the forest they all came...about 20 of them. And they didn't walk toward me, they ran! They stopped just before reaching me, and a pregnant mare actually came right up to me!!!!!! I told her that I love her :)
