This is one of a series of still life paintings I am still doing -- each primarily focused on exploring a single type of fruit or a single item. I love doing them quickly and stretching the envelope in color at times. This particular painting is on a Masonite panel, with gold leaf backing behind the oil painting. After finishing the painting, I used the wooden tip of the paint brush to scratch a sgraffito patterns to let the gold show though.
