Hi Ken! It's been a while since I've looked at your work. Your are producing some really nice, original work! You're really capturing a special mood with the paints you use. Congratulations!

Ken Powers replied:

Thank you Elaine! I sure have a lot of fun experimenting with different watercolor paints!

Ken I love this series of yours ,they are amazing ,just have fascination for old and rustic objects, which you have done it extremely well.

I liked what you did on this painting Garage Lock # 4 you captured the rust and aging metal and the old wood ! For being a self taught artist you have taught yourself to paint what you see Keep it up ! I happen to like to paint old wood and rusty subjects along with my South Western paintings thank you for the nice comments on my painting The Collection.

Another masterpiece Ken,I think this may be my favorite -- well done my friend! . .....Joe

Hi Ken, remarkable paintings in your gallery. I love these detail images, they have always something special and make us see the beauty of things that we normally wouldn't see. Wonderful realistic artworks, beautifully executed! The shine on this metal is great!

I'd love to be able to paint like this.

Thanks for commenting on my "Fisherman's Wharf". I'm still new at this watercolor business & I have alot to learn. Your work is wonderful! It would be hard to choose a favorite. I love how you've taken everyday objects that are generally ignorned & turned them into a "pleasing to look at" piece of art. Thanks for sharing your work. :)))))))

We share a love for old wood and oxidized metal. Very good realism here !

Ken, thank you for your generous comments on my work! I love all of the pieces you have in your gallery -- particularly this one! You've proven that even the most plain object has beauty when viewed on its own.

This is beautiful work Ken. It seems you have found a home using a medium I still struggle with. The detail is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your work.

Making the door red was a good idea because now you can paint it again for us only using blue the next time. Love this one !!!

This fine painting of the Tree of Life or ”Yggdrasil” as it is known in the old Nordic mythology - we live in the nordic part of Europe, in Sweden. When you look at this painting, many thougts comes to your mind.

We very much enjoy this wonderful painting of Eric Clapton, as we are fans of the talanted artist.

When I saw this image, I knew I had to have it. Since it wasn't available in apparel or greeting card format, I bought it as a poster and bought a frame so I could hang it in my room. I had to crop the white border by hand, though. Easier said than done, believe me. But the results are worth it. Rarely have I seen such a splendid combination of innocence and female beauty.

Unfortunately this artwork remains rolled in the tube. The 36 x 35 enlargement I ordered had lost clarity and was too blurred to spend money on framing. It's a lovely piece - but stick with smaller sizes to retain clarity of original work.

Very happy with my selections and this artist, Matej Prasek

Deep feelings.

Artist's Description

This is another in my series of lock paintings. I used my same garage latch but painted in a different type of lock. I also decided to make the door red instead of blue just for fun. It is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper.
