The name of the gorge is Partnachklamm . Partnach is the little river running through. It is also part of the complete city name Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Klamm is the German mixture of gorge and flume.

Thanks Gene! Yes, it's a shame you where not able. I didn't get to see much either, it was only a one night stay in Garmish and a long drive from Kaiserslautern. :-) I forgot the name of the Gorge but that was all I was able to see and the Olympic stadium happenend to be right at the trailhead. Thanks again Gene!

Ich war eine Amerikanisher soldaten in Mainz. The one chance I had go to Garmish was with my unit and they had such a tight schedule I couldn't see the country side. This a cool pic; wish I'd been able to bum around the hills for a couple of days!
