Love the painting and the rich colorful blues, reds, greens, & yellows! A nice addition to our cowboy/southwest decor vibe.

Beautifully expressed rendition of the Shrine of the Bab. The frame and matting showcase the print. We have it prominently on our living room wall with other sacred pictures.

I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.

Artist's Description

It's a trend. We imitate the old world with new world devices. Letting go of what we are used to is hard. So we disguise modern equipment to look antique. Downtown street lights are made to look like they came from a different era. People don't realize the light from what looks like an old gas light is actually a "post-top prismatic refractive LED acorn" light. Downtown buildings, however, are actually antiques and will soon have to be torn down. Architects will probably replace them with new modern-looking buildings that will make the "old-fashioned" street lights look out of place.

About Ken Blystone

Ken Blystone

I started out as (what I call) a chemical photographer. When I was a teen I started earning money with my camera by taking pictures of sports teams. I built a darkroom on my parent's patio and learned a lot about how to make a room light-tight. Processing film requires a lot of water, so I learned a lot about plumbing too! With degrees in English and photo-journalism from the University of Texas at El Paso, I became a teacher mainly for public high schools but also taught at the community college and eventually at UTEP after earning a Master's degree. In the 1980's I became certified by the state of Texas to teach computer science. As a computer arts teacher and designer of digital media, I started using Adobe software products...
