Get off the Roads and Enjoy Nature, many times people enjoy the Red Rocks in Sedona Arizona. But, if you check our Sedona Gallery, you will see the majority of the best views are from dirt roads or paths which run off them. This view is in a part of the National Forests in Arizona. and it is far from the best one that we saw that day. The further down the paths we got, the better the views. Many do not feel they are in physical condition which is good enough to get off the beaten track. But if you take your time, stop and rest, frequently anyone can do it. At 83, am still "Hiking the trails" though it is past the time that I can carry a 70lb backpack through the mountains, day trips are enjoyable even though now Im using a Walker even on rough trails. In many area have to pick it up and live it over rocks or logs, but we really "can do" anything that we "want to do."

Bob and Nadine Johnston replied:
One thing we used to do living in Fullerton, when the Orange Blossoms were blooming, was open all the windows. We had two big trees, one of them had four different kinds of oranges grafted onto it, which ripened at different times of the year. Liked the Navels best, and never had to buy an orange for years, as we just picked them off the tree year round.

This is beautiful! I love the little trail and the title's perfect! v
Bob and Nadine Johnston replied:
The little trail disappears, as it goes down over the side of the canyon. :) Fortunately it was not too steep most of the way. But it did get too bad, to stop me from going further, or would not have been able to get back up out of the canyon. This is the trail the first Explorers with General Crook used coming west over the mountains in to Arizona. It was used by the Soldiers to go from Fort Apache to Fort Verde after it was built. A tough trail to carry all the supplies, etc they had to get there. They marked each mile of the trail with a Marker. So they would know how far they had gone. As the crow flies, some were not far apart, it was the up and down through canyons, that added a lot to the distance. A few hundred feet behind me was the 13 Mile Marker coming from Fort Verde... still a looong way to go, get to Fort Apache...
