During the Tihar festival (festival of lights), it is traditional for the Nepalis to place candles outside their homes to welcome Laxmi, the Goddess of Wealth. Ghorepani has hydro-electric power and the electric street and lodge lights overwhelmed the candlelight. However there was a sudden power cut, and the locals lit parafin lamps in the lodges. I went outside with my F100 and tripod and took this photo before the electricty was restored.
