Gnarled olive tree wood. Close-up of the gnarled wood of an old olive tree (Olea europaea). Most olive trees live for around 200 years, but some can be 500 years old. The longest-lived are thought to be over 2000 years old. Photographed in Palma on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, Spain.
