Haha - the jumbled mash ¢¾ is supposed to be a 'heart' symbol!

Hey there back (still in Innisfail) hehe. Thanks so much Eileen ~ I do like, very much, your interpretation that my "paintings beat with a rhythm of primordial magic". That's so lovely. ¢¾ : ) Thankyou again! By the way, I do love goats for whatever reason (riotous characters??) not that I've ever owned or looked after one (one animal my parents never had on our mixed farm when growing up and had to look after/feed 'many' - mainly sheep, cattle, chooks, ducks, some horses, dogs and cats ...).

Thank you all - Helena, Todd, Van, Marlene - I'm glad you enjoy this! Mary Ellen, thanks for the explanation of your paintings - I enjoyed it.

Hey, Kerryn from Innisfail - thank you! I never acknowledged your lovely compliment, and I appreciate it very much. I love hearing my painting called a lyrical maze, and coming from someone whose own paintings beat with a rhythm of primordial magic, it means a lot.

Wonderful! I am trying to picture it in oil-what delightful yummy colors!!

What a wonderful creative work of art!!

Eileen, about two Maine Sail paintings, each year my sisters and I get together and put on a exhibit in Vermont called The Four Sisters;one of us chooses a photo and sends it to the others to be reproduced as they see fit. Never any consultation among us,we only seefinished the painting the night we hang the exhibit. I believe Jackie Mueller-Jones posted her version also. You may be interested in going to her page to view her version. It is an interesting experiment that we do every year.

Skip said something about art being like Deja Vu, This piece hits Me that way, like something I've always deeply known, a truth I've always had

Thank you so much, Margot! And Kevin, too!

EILEEN! This is SO beautiful... keep them coming ..please...

This work has a wonderful dream-like quality.

A beautiful and colourful lyrical maze.

Thank you, Shari!! Thinking about your words, rambunctious and mysterious, there's one more word I want to apply to this painting, and to this direction in my art: Irreverent. And I suspect THAT applies to goats, also!

This piece is delightful! I have four pet goats and "rambunctious and mysterious" describes them as well as your art!

Thank you so much, both of you! And Kime, thanks for starting the Unlabeled Rangers/Neo-Expressionism Group! I think some of my most interesting (to me) pieces will belong in that Group...

Oh yes, yes, yes lovely. Linda

WOOOW, I love this piece, awesome!

I carved 3 Kokopelli figures and one sunburst onto a 36" wide board, next, I needed to paint them. Sadly, I'm from Atlanta, so, I don't know the SW pallet of colors. That's why I bought your painting - to glean inspiration. Your pallet has helped enormously. Of course, I didn't slavishly copy your mixtures; instead, I created my own. However, it must be stated that yours opened my eyes to some exciting choices. I'm nearly done painting the 3-D figures. When I'm finished, I'll send you a photo if you are really interested.

Love this art work. It is the Center piece of my living room. We are a fly fishing family and this couldnā€™t have been better.

Just love it. I get a smile on my face when ever I see it. Such a fantastic artwork. Bobby Zeik has a great sense of humor, color, texture. The perfect combination of an iconic image and artistic expression. The posters came very quickly nicely rolled in a tube. The paper quality is excellent.

I am the author of "Frank K. Hain and the Manhattan Railway, the Elevated Railway (1875-1903)," published by McFarland & Co., 2011. My book has many elevated train photos, but not this particular one I purchased your art because it mirrored the ones in my book and is posting size. It now hangs on a wall in my office. The art work is excellent and the photo paper is very high quality. It is a top notch product and I am proud to have it on my wall.

Artist's Description

This is my favorite of my paintings, and my vision for the direction I want to move further in. I am an animal lover; I love animals of all kinds, and they figure greatly in my internal imagery. My aim is to combine rendered, figurative animals with more naive and awkward painting marks, shapes and masses; and in this painting these things all work together for me, creating a rambunctious, irreverent and mysterious glimpse of something, like a dream.

About Eileen Hale

Eileen Hale

My Painting a Day Blog My Art Blog My Website (not yet up) The two primary areas of my art are: 1) my personal art, and 2) animal portraits (and sometimes human portraits) on commission. My personal art ranges from fairly pure abstract work - dynamic, restless and shifting, full of motion and emotion, in watercolor, oils and collage - to work that combines figurative, abstract/abstract expressionist and surrealist styles in the same painting, with a dreamlike mix of content. I love color and flow, and I think my work is energetic, and graceful and refined as well as boisterous, naive, playful and clumsy. My vision is to bring many viewpoints together, in a harmony that is not too settled a harmony; I love the counterpoint as well...
