Nighttime Launch of the space shuttle Discovery STS-116 on Dec. 9, 2006, at 8:47 pm from Launch Pad 39B made for a great show of a controlled explosion of 1.2 million pounds of thrust. I am sure that this is what Robert Goddard had in mind on March 16 1926 in Auburn, Massachusetts. Now, thats a wow factor of 10.
