Description
Godrevy Lighthouse Quaternary Ice Age Deposits
The rocks at Godrevy are Devonian mudstones overlain with Quaternary ice age deposits. The mudstone was laid in a deep sea sedimentary basin and subject to seismic activity, forming turbidites. I think these stunning rocks make a perfect lead in line towards the lighthouse looking a bit lost in the sea against these prehistoric monsters in the foreground. The sky gives a bit of normality to the photograph letting you know that we are in the present and not the past.
This stunning lighthouse is accessible from Gwithian car park on the outskirts of Hayle, Cornwall, UK and is well worth the visit if only to have a breakfast at the jam pot cafe.
