Amazing history & description, Robert (can “almost” hear the foghorn, lol!) - and esp love the lighting across the sky and water and onto the walls of the lighthouse itself. The tiny bit of light first showing at the top of the lighthouse finishes the work perfectly! l/f!

NEED TO CANCEL ORDER. SHIPPING IS TWICE AS MUCH AS THE HAND TOWEL .

Again, the artist, John Boyd, takes fabulous pictures and paints awesome items, but this towel does not look like this picture. It is basically all one color and you can’t discern what it’s supposed to be.

For a bird loving friend it’s perfect.Made her smile

December 2nd, 2018

It didn't turn out as good as I expected, although it is still very nice. I suspect it's because it is so much larger than the original painting. The colors are not nearly as bright as the painting, that is they look faded.

November 20th, 2018

I would like a refund. It’s not the color as shown I wanted Dk brown as described in the picture shown.

Looks nothing like the pictures on the internet I would like a refund please.

Artist's Description

North Head lies near the mouth of the Columbia River, approximately two miles north of Cape Disappointment. The Cape Disappointment light, installed in 1856, was obscured to ships approaching from the north by the headland extending southwest from the light. This obstruction led to many shipwrecks, including the Harvest Home in 1882, Whistler in 1883, Carrie B. Lake in 1886, Grace Roberts in 1887, and Strathblane in 1891. To remedy the situation, a lighthouse was built at North Head, which faces the ocean directly and would be clearly visible to ships traveling from the north. The 65-foot tower stood on a 130-foot cliff. The lens was the first-order lens from Cape Disappointment, and was first lit in 1898. A small workroom was built at the base. Two residences, a barn, and several other outbuildings were built east of the lighthouse. A fog signal was also built, but proved as inaudible as the one at Cape Disappointment,

About Robert Bales

I am a retired teacher, coach and athletic director. While my wife, Judy, and I were teaching she had a photo studio, and I had a dark room where I did black and white and color. Some was for the studio while most of it was just a hobby. When we retired in 2000, we sold our house in Eastern Washington and moved onto our boat, Last Class, and our motorhome. We sold Last Class a few years ago and bought a small house in Yuma, Arizona and bought another one in Emmett Idaho. Now we spend the summers in Emmett and the winters in Yuma. Over our 50 years of marriage, we have always had an interest in photography and both of us enjoy taking the photos for this site. I am heading to Yuma for the winter so I will off line some of the time for 3...
