Description
Sometimes I don't know why I am moved to do something, just that I am. In the case of Golden Slumbers, the painting is part of a triptych that started with Tangled Up In Blue and continued with Let Your Laughter Fill The Room. A square format, abstract piece with rich and enticing colors, playful shapes and negative space, a sense of movement and a desire to be interpreted in a most individual way. Well, what do you see in it? I painted this in my dining room, on a chill but sunny winter afternoon, when the colors felt right and the music was playing, and my daughter was dancing around. The white of the paper offsets the playful movement of the connected forms.

Rich, earthy shades of gold, orange, yellow and brown make this painting a good decorating choice for almost any room in your house.

Once there was a way,
To get back homeward.

Once there was a way
To get back home.

Sleep, pretty darling,
Dot not cry
And I will sing a lullaby.

Golden slumbers,
Fill your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling
Do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby.

"Golden Slumbers" is a song by the Beatles, part of the climactic medley on their 1969 album Abbey Road. The song begins the progression that leads to the end of the album and is followed by "Carry That Weight." The two songs were recorded together as a single piece, and both were written by Paul McCartney (credited to LennonMcCartney), strings and brass arranged and scored by producer George Martin.
*****
"Golden Slumbers" is based on the poem "Cradle Song", a lullaby by the dramatist Thomas Dekker. The poem appears in Dekker's 1603 comedy Patient Grissel. McCartney saw sheet music for Dekker's lullaby at his father's home in Liverpool, left on a piano by his stepsister Ruth. Unable to read music, he created his own music. McCartney uses the first stanza of the original poem, with minor word changes,[4][5] adding to it a single lyric line repeated with minor variation. Abbey Road does not credit Dekker with the stanza or with the title.

Golden Slumbers Kiss Your Eyes
*****
Golden slumbers kiss your eyes,
Smiles awake you when you rise ;
Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby,
Rock them, rock them, lullaby.
Care is heavy, therefore sleep you,
You are care, and care must keep you ;
Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby,
Rock them, rock them, lullaby.
