In late autumn, I had a 'magical moment' at the Rustenberg Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, about 40 minutes from Cape Town. It was late afternoon, with the sun very bright on the golden vines of the grapes. Just then the low lying clouds cast a shadow over the wooden area behind the vines and they really were a Golden Splendor to behold. I came back to paint this impressionistic painting to attempt convey that experience of beauty.
