The honey bees, apis mellifera, originally from Europe, can be found all over North America, They are a social insect living in large groups called hives. They are made up of females, called workers, who collect the nectar and pollen that feed the hive, a queen, whose sole responsibility is to lay eggs, and the males, or drones, whose only responsibility is to fertilize the queen.
Wand goldenrod is found throughout Florida and much of the southeastern coastal plain. Look for it along the seashore, edgeas of marshy areas and damp roadsides.
Like many of the old generation of photographers, I began with a Kodak box brownie when I was a kid. When I saw what resulted, I was hooked. Having grown up with an aunt who was a professional artist, I was always exposed to the creative arts. As a result, I have always liked to paint. Later I went to the Defense Information School at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in 1966 where I got more intensive training in photography and photojournalism and practiced that craft in Vietnam and the United States. I studied with the Famous Artists and Famous Photographers Schools to help hone my skills.
