Love it!!!
A triptych, the painting Goliad is a history lesson. I first created this as a digital work (see my digital gallery) before painting it in oil. Goliad, Texas is the site of several significant events in the history of Texas under France, Spain Mexico and the Republic of Texas. The first declaration of independence of the Republic of Texas was signed in Goliad on Dec. 20, 1835. This painting pays special homage to the 342 Texians who were massacred by the Mexican Army on March 27, 1836. It was on March 2, 1836 that the Texians declared formal Independence. What followed was first the Battle of the Alamo on March 6.
