About Ray Manning
While studying for my Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography at Northern Michigan University, the rugged landscape and relative isolation of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula further instilled a love of photographing nature, while at the same time I was offered a more “sensible” career path. Accepting the position of staff photographer for the University newspaper, I soon delved into photojournalism, later also working for the local city newspaper while finishing school. Upon graduation, I worked as a photojournalist for five years in the Detroit area before accepting a position with a major heath care system. In the course of my professional work, my images have appeared in numerous publications ranging from Time Magazine, U.S. News & World...
